Your nervous system is vital in controlling and regulating your bodily functions. Trauma from accidents, complications from surgery, emotional stress and other factors can interfere with your nervous system’s ability to function, which can negatively affect your health. By targeting stress points through chiropractic adjustments, we can reduce this interference and help your body achieve optimal health.
At One Life Chiropractic we strive to give our patients the ability to adapt. Our bodies are meant to adapt to stresses in our lives to maintain our health. Our focus is to aid in supporting your body to heal, fight off illness, and function at an optimal level through chiropractic care and whole food nutrition. We believe that when your nervous system is aligned and communicating with the rest of your body, you are able to reach a new level of health.
In regards to chiropractic care, you have a lot of options and approaches to choose from in Rochester. There are some great doctors that are very skilled at the techniques they utilize. Many people seek out chiropractic care for pain relief and that is certainly a component that we can work on. However, we see pain as a secondary effect of a primary structural issue. We work with each individual patient to identify the root cause of your pain, various health problems, organ dysfunction, or other conditions that you would not normally associate with a problem originating in your neck. If you’re ready for the next level of chiropractic care, check out the next section on Our Approach.
At your first visit to our office, you can expect:
- A complete history
- Structural analysis
- Thermal spinal scan
- Orthopedic and Neurological exam
- Digital posture analysis
The purpose of this thorough examination is to identify if there are any structural shifts and how we can help you through NeuroStructural Chiropractic Techniques.
What we don’t do at One Life Chiropractic:
- There are no mandatory “you must sign up for the whole year” sales pitches
- There are no tricks or gimmicks to choose our care
- No 2 for 1 deals on a package of care except for our wellness package discount for those patients who have graduated to our wellness program.
Conventional chiropractic focuses on goals of decreasing muscular spasm, increasing range of motion, or using some type of spinal manipulation to reduce pain. This is how the majority of chiropractors practice, and I believe it has its place if all you are looking for is symptom relief or pain management. But rather than constantly addressing and managing your symptoms, we prefer to address the underlying cause so you do not see the recurrences or exacerbation that many see under this traditional style of chiropractic. With this type of care we know we are treating compensations from the primary neurostructural shift. Therefore, we expect symptoms to return at some point and many see a benefit with month to month maintenance to manage their symptoms. Of course getting to the root cause is not going to be for everyone. This is why we offer this type of conventional chiropractic care.
However, if you are tired of constantly patching the problem and you’re looking for a long term solution , check out our Upper Cervical/Neurostructural Care page!
Through a variety of evaluation strategies we look for the underlying cause of your secondary problems (pain, numbness in extremities, headaches, sciatica, etc.) We specialize in identifying neural shifts in the spine that might be causing you to not live your life to the fullest. Rather than continuing to fix the drafty window we look to correct the foundation and so many of our patients rave about the results.
Neural shifts, simply put, are shifts in the bones in the neck and spine that can cause ribs, shoulders, or hips for example to come out of alignment which can lead to nerve pain, muscle spasms, or even ligament damage. This causes a disruption in the brain’s ability to communicate through the spinal column with the rest of the body.

Once I go to a chiropractor, will I have to go forever?
No… At One Life Chiropractic, our goal is to identify the primary neurostructural issue that is impacting the function of the nervous system of each and every client. Once this has been resolved, your path to true wellness will begin. In order to truly achieve this is to maintain the health of your nervous system. Your best outcome is a result of our ability to maintain your nervous system free of structural shifts. We recommend that you still come in periodically based on your condition and Dr. Jon’s evaluation. Should you choose to discontinue care, this does not necessarily mean that your health will regress. However, after you have worked so hard to get feeling like yourself again, would it not make sense to get your nervous system checked periodically?
How long before I see results?
Results are based on individual treatment and dedication. There are many contributing factors for each patient. We all have had different life experiences that greatly impact our health. Due to this, there is not one recipe to determine the amount of chiropractic visits that will be necessary without all the pertinent details procured by a consultation and comprehensive NeuroStructural examination. What we can say with our years of experience, is that most of our patients start to notice significant changes within the first 3-6 weeks of their care.
Do I get adjusted each visit?
You are only adjusted when the objective findings indicate that your spine has shifted out of alignment. Each individual’s body varies in holding an adjustment based your lifestyle, therefore at each visit to the office you will be evaluated and Dr. Jon will determine if there are structural shifts that warrant an adjustment. You will be given recommendations in the office which is intended to help you achieve and maintain an aligned state.
If I don’t have any pain, can I still come in?
Absolutely! Pain is the first symptom to go away, and the last thing to return when there is an issue. We feel that proactive approach and maintaining your spinal health is better than reactive care. You will still be evaluated each time you come in. This allows us to identify any structural shifts before you even know there is an issue.
What if I’m pregnant?
We recommend getting checked regularly when you are pregnant. Chiropractic care is a great way to relieve the added stress on your spine with the weight gain. It can also assist with sciatic pain – the inflammation of the sciatic nerve that runs from your lower back down through legs to your feet.
As your belly grows and your posture changes, it is important to maintain pelvic balance, which is often times thrown off.
Besides making you feel better during pregnancy, getting checked regularly can also help control nausea, prevent a potential C-section, and has even been linked to reducing the amount of time some women spend in labor.
